Our practice nurses, provide a wide range of services including:
- ear syringing
- removal of sutures
- wound dressing
- vaccinations and immunisations
- travel vaccines (some attract a fee – ask nurse for details)
They hold regular clinics for the treatment and monitoring of:
- Warts / verrucae
- Smoking cessation
- Coronary Heart Disease
- Preventative care to promote good health
- All of our female patients aged between 20 and 65, those using regular contraception and any other woman who requests the service will be offered screening every five years, to include:
- Smear test
- Simple health check
Various forms of surgical procedures and injections are offered by the doctors at the Medical Centre. Please ask the doctor about this during any routine consultation.
A team of district nurses from Provide are attached to the practice who look after patients confined to their homes, or after discharge from hospital. With their wide range of skills, they deliver quality care to acute, chronic and terminally ill patients.

If you require emergency contraception please contact the surgery as soon as possible as it is more effective the sooner it is given to you.
The surgery does run family planning clinics. All methods of contraception are available including IUDs and implants. Please ask the receptionist for an appointment with the family planning nurse.
An extra contraceptive implant clinic is being held Thursday 9th February 2017 at Rivermead.

Our attached midwife shares the care of our obstetric patients with the G.P. She holds a weekly ante-natal clinic and visits mothers at home before and after the birth. Her contact number will be given to you on your first ante natal visit.
Patients ages 16-75
All patients between the ages of 16 and 74 who have not had a consultation or attended a clinic provided by the surgery within the past three years may request a consultation with the practice nurse. This involves:
- lifestyle questions
- a simple examination
Patients ages 75 and over
If you are 75 or over and have not been seen in the previous year by your G.P. you may request a health assessment by the practice nurse.
Health Care Assistant and Phlebotomists
We have a health care assistant who takes blood two morning per week (one morning at each site) and carries out:
- Smoking cessation
- NHS Health Checks
- Blood pressure checks
- Minor Dressings
- 24 Hour Ambulatory Care
